There's a whole little sub-genre out there of books about the imagined life of Queen Elizabeth II. I'm reading one of them right now--a new novel called Mrs. Queen Takes the Train by William Kuhn. It's likable enough, but IMHO nowhere near as devastatingly funny as Sue Townsend's The Queen and I or as charming as Alan Bennett's The Uncommon Reader.
What are you reading these days?

Still Alice by Lisa Genova. The book is generally from the pov of a professional woman diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer's Disease. The point of the book seems to be that, disease notwithstanding, she does still have a point of view. I recommend it highly, but I have not yet finished it, so I hope the ending doesn't ruin the experience for me. I'm optimistic.
Boomerang by Michael Lewis. The guy can write nonfiction better than almost anyone.
While at work I have been streaming Life of Pi. Read it in 2002. Liked it. Like it less the second time through.
Ten Thousand Autumns of Jacob de Zoet by David Mitchell and the Dovekeepers by Alice Hoffman.
Still reading The Tiger, but started a police procedural set in Shetland last night which seems good. And I brought Cloud Atlas with me.
Just finished Tina Fey's Bossypants. Meh.
Started All the Pretty Horses. Have you read it? Beautiful prose so far.
Just starting "The Film Club". Just finishing "The City and The City." Half-way through "Gun to The Head Marketing." The last one? A book about marketing for pizza shop owners. I might just buy a pizza shop...the book is that good.
