If you want to run a marathon . . .

. . . then WHATEVER YOU DO, don't write a column for the D-news and blab the fact to the whole world (not that the whole world reads the D-news). Because, doll, if you do blab the fact, the Cosmos will make sure you wake up one day with a herniated disc. Hahahahahah and HA!

UNCLE!!!!!!!!!!! Also, bleh. Icing and taking massive doses of Aleve as we speak.

I've run some marathons. Here's my advice: don't. It's not really worth it. And human bodies are not meant to run that much. (From someone who's had plenty of messed up discs.)

Also, in the last marathon I ran, I slipped on some gravel at mile 18 and fell down the mountain. Tore the ligament that held my kneecap in place.

Maybe this is just me and my bad injury mojo, but I think a lot of runners have bad knees. You don't want a bad back and a bad wrist AND bad knees, do you?

I do run ("run" being a very relative term in my case), but I have NO desire to do a marathon. My dad says running can't be that smart--you never saw Albert Einstein running, did you?

Take care of you!

Ugh. I'm so so sorry! But also a little relieved for you.

Oh, BOO. Hope you're getting some relief, and also that someone's there to bring you a cupcake and/or popsicle. And make you a BLT for lunch.

Okay, herniated disc is elevated from the hurt back I was told about.

Ann! That's terrible and also full of the kind of irony that I was fairly sure I cornered the market on.

I was going to say that marathon running takes a certain kind of crazy, but they say that about people who write books too. So, been there done that, haven't ya?
