of all the many, many, insanely many foods i love, i love the mexican food the most. it is my absolute go-to comfort food, and i would be very sad if i lived in a place like china where possibly they don't have mexican restaurants on every street corner.
i was discussing my love for the mexican food with physical therapist John who loves it, too. so i asked him his fave restaurant and he said the red iguana. and i said mine was rio grande.
and NOW i'm asking you. favorite mexican restaurant. favorite dish there. i don't care if you don't live in utah. i get around.

The Red I is great, but I don't often get there--too far from where I live, too many people standing around outside in the cold (this time of year) or in the hot (in the summer). I also love the Blue I and always have. They have all kinds of good vegetarian tacos and also awesome fish tacos (as does the Red). Also, at the Red, there are chilaquiles which make my heart sing and also I feel terribly terribly ill with heartburn there after. But not enough to stop me, maybe, from eating them again, they are that good.
Mi Ranchito: shrimp tacos. La Luna, which used to be a La Puente, which, as we all know, had its genealogy in La Frontera, aka La Fra: chile verde. I remember the first time I ever had chile verde at the La Fra with the cantina. Worlds collided, the heavens opened, the angels sang.
Taco Bell. Nochos. Oh wait, that doesn't count?
Mi Ranchito has a killer tostada grande makes my heart happy. La Frontera's chips n salsa are to die for (I don't remember what I actually ordered, although I'm sure it was also superb) and I'm sure it doesn't actually count but I love Cafe Rio's grilled chicken salad.
Mmmm....mexican food.
Red Iguana is also my favorite. I have to go on Fridays because they have mango mole carnitas. You really can't beat Rio Grande, though. Su Casa has a great lunch special and tastes "almost real" according to my past mexico mission-serving hubby. Also, the taco stands by Sears--the real deal.
Please, oh please, go to Restaurant Morelia (near Fashion Place Mall) for the chile verde, and El Farol in Midvale for the bean dip, and then blog about it so that I can live vicariously through you!
And if it wouldn't be too much, hit Los Hermanos in Lindon for some fajitas. Mmmmmm.
Taco bell hard tacos and also tacos at cafe rio on tuesdays when they are a dollar fifty (at least in logan). I am a poor college student... Cafe Sabor in Logan is also awesome I have only had their fajitas that can feed me for a week.
See, this is why we're really twins. Hands down, mexican.
No-one makes a chicken chimi like Los Hermanos. No-one.
If fajitas are your game, you must come to Kuna, Idaho and visit El Gallo Giro. THE BEST fajitas, ever. And believe you me, I've been around. I'm a mexican restaraunt floozie.
Also try, La Casa Mexico in Boise, but only the one in Hyde Park. They're better than the rest.
I heart Mexican Food.
At Loco Lizard in Park City, they have lots of goodies, but my fave is the green dippy salsa-stuff they bring out with the chips. Mmm.
Joe Bandito's in Springville on State Street. I like the enchiladas in green sauce. yum.
La Frontera on 4th South. Don't be afraid, the food has been great for 30 years at least, and the smothered burrito is amazing. Their tortillas are thick, home make and chewy. This place got my husband through law school (he could somehow manage to face another day if the could have a combo plate), and one night, when the green chili was especially good it inspired him to ask me to marry him.
El Rancho Grande in Kearns has $1.50 margarita nights on Thursday (non-alcholoic of course). Their food isn't bad either.
Oh, Anne, I forgot...the Merry Piglets in Jackson. They have the best Enchilada's this side of the the Yellowstone Caldera.
