Hot cross buns

I buy them at Backers on South Temple. I don't always love everything Backers does even though it's a total Salt Lake institution. But their hot cross buns are tasty treats--really yeasty and current-y and all the things a hot cross bun should be.

So yes. I'll eat them until Easter because why should other religions have all the fun?

I know there are better cakes around than Backers--the chocolate cake at Bakers de Normandy is the best--but I still like to go in and buy a little flowery cake with raspberry filling and eat it mostly by myself.

So much sugar! So much joy.

I am so pathetic that I bought a one-layer white cake with coconut sprinkled on the white frosting at Smith's. And I thought it was yummy. I find that my taste buds are non-discriminating when I stress eat!

Glad you can capitalize!

So, wait. Hot cross buns are like your Mormon Lent?

I can totally get behind that.

Thanks for dropping by my Link2Literacy blog. It always tickles me! I hope to meet you in person some day - are you working with aspiring writers this summer? I hope so. I understand that the week won't be held at BYU this year. How do I find info?

P.S. I'm going to use my "seasons" blog to sign in so you'll know Link and Seasons are ME! :D
