Remember that list I told you about?

The list of beliefs?  Here it is in column form.

I woke up in the middle of the night last night worried about this one for some reason.  Really.  AS IF ANYBODY CARES.  But I worried about sounding facile and precious and full of myself.  Ugh.  But it's too late now.  Column's already up and at 'em.

I will say this.  It was a fun column to write.  And I'd love to hear a few of your core beliefs, too.

Now, I'm going to have to revise mine, but I really like the one on having low expectations (Isn't that Buddah?).

Here's a few more: I believe you can't have enough bright red coats.

I believe that what first world people think of as happiness is way overrated.

I believe (deeply) that beauty is more important than truth or goodness.

I believe I could live with an outhouse but not without hot water.

I believe that everybody needs an Ann and a Louise in their life.

Oh, I completely loved your list. Entirely. To add to yours and Louise's:

apparently, I believe that you can't have enough bright red lipstick!

and I believe that finding what you want to do and doing it is a sacred thing. you know, excluding harm to others.

I believe in living--really living--your own life, with all its complications and obligations and joys, little, medium-sized, and big.

I believe that flip-flops should be worn exclusively in summer.

I believe that bedtime should be aggressively enforced.

I believe that sleeping outside is good for the soul.

I believe that a good book is grossly underrated.

I believe that road trips are freeing.

I believe in writing.
I believe in good friends, who brought me chocolate cake and lemon raspberry cupcakes today.
I believe that there aren't a lot of easy answers to the big struggles.
I believe that life is hard, and funny, and sweet. In that order.
