The rumors are true . . .

I am, in fact, losing my mind due to seasonal overload.

I offer this as evidence: yesterday morning I decided to put my running clothes on over my pajamas, but wait! That's not the weirdest part. In fact, that was the brilliant part. I didn't have to expend a single valuable calorie getting undressed and re-dressed, for one thing. And for another! Layers! I was all toasty warm at 5:30 in the a.m. when I stepped outside.

Here's the weird part. When I came home, I took off my outerwear and then went about my beeswax--gathering up the recycling, watering the Christmas tree, feeding the dogs. Anyhoo. THANKFULLY at some point I noticed that I was still wearing a certain crucial foundation garment on the OUTSIDE of my pajama top, not unlike Wonder Woman.

I was v. glad indeed that none of the kids was around to take a picture and post it on Facebook with a caption like, "When Elderly Mothers Go Around the Bend."

I can't believe I just blogged about this.

Yet you did blog about it, and that's one of the reasons I love your blog and, in fact, love you--that you'll share such moments, thinking only of the reader's enjoyment, pre-empting the Facebooking child as it were. Nicely played.

Here are some important points I gathered from your anecdote: layers. beeswax. 5:30 a.m.????? elderly (word choice?).

In conclusion, I may need some new pajamas. I know that was not your point, but sometimes an amusing anecdote can be instructive too.

Ha! There are so many camera phones around these days, SOMEONE must've taken a photo. Please let it be so.
This reminds me of my grandsons who, when they are ready to play superheroes, insist on wearing their underpants on the outside. Why that is the empowering fashion move is not clear, but their non-stop running and your 5:30 freaking a.m. running suggests there must be something to it.
BTW, remember the Seinfeld episode with the bra? Be careful how you wield that thing.

I laughed so hard when I read this.

It kind of makes sense. In the same way my six-year-old daughter sleeps in her cloths. It saves a lot of time in the morning.

I might've peed my pants a little when read this and I'm not wearing auxiliary underwear. So, I'm going to go change.

The picture of you bending over the tree to water it is all I need to keep me going throughout this day. Thank you for that.

Good, good times! What a delightful visual (the whole story, not just the whoops).
