Another column I probably won't write

If you are experiencing any of the following symptoms . . .
1. weakness
2. dizziness
3. disorientation
4. numbness in hands and arms
5. profuse sweating (to the point where it appears you've been running through the sprinklers in your suit)
6. extreme clamminess
7. Drop in body temperature
8. Profound nausea

. . . PLEASE CALL 911 AND GET AN AMBULANCE instead of making your secretary call your wife who cannot run red lights with you strapped into the front seat. Even though she wants to.

Okay. Now that we have that out of the way, may I just say I am so very, very, very happy that after observing him closely for 1 1/2 days in the hospital, everyone there is pretty sure that my husband didn't have a heart attack. LDS hospital's staff is the greatest. Meanwhile, we are very grateful to family and friends who have been sending prayers and all best wishes our way.

Husband looks great, feels great, and is doing great. Not sure what caused the "incident" or "episode" (hospital talk), but right now he has a clean bill of health on the cardiac front and that's fabulous news.

I'm so glad he's okay. I'm also glad you did not run a red light (even though you wanted to) and end up with more hospital drama.

It's been hard to think of anything else today. So this is good news.

Did you punch him and say, "don't ever do that to me again?"

I love that phrasing, "He's had an episode," which is to say we don't know what's wrong with him.

But I am glad that Ken is alive in this world. And you too.

Glad it wasn't anything more serious.

I am also so glad Ken is okay, it would have been a significant bummer if he had either (a) checked out, (b) received what bankruptcy lawyers refer to as the "ultimate discharge," or (c) been seriously laid up. I'm quite sure Ken would never have been able to provide a sufficient apology to Ann and that, I'm sure, would have made him feel very, very bad. So, life is good, Ken is good, hopefully Ann is good, the sky seems a little bluer, the grass a little greener, the flowers Ann sent Ken a little prettier, the moon a little more romantic, and the most precious things seem a little more precious today.

After this, no more "me too!" stories.
Last fall Greg said to me, after leaving work because of those symptoms and then deciding he was ok, "I think we'd better go to the emergency room after all!" So I ran into the car in front of me. And then I hurried to the ER where they said all that other stuff about him being fine. I was very glad. And I gave a nice lady $2000 for her bumper.
