so this week the desnews forwarded me a seven page letter from a reader who wants to help me to choose the right by not choosing caffeine. especially the kind of caffeine i accidentally took to church once in the form of a dr. pepper can. which was full.
i would write this reader to tell him/her thanks for his/her concern. but oops! he/she forgot to include his/her return address! and also sign his/her name!
it's always an interesting experience to be on the receiving end of an anonymous letter. i used to find them disturbing, sometimes even mildly threatening in their anonymity.
now? well. basically i just think she/he would have felt better about the endeavor if he/she had felt brave enough to sign the letter. owning up is better than owning up, i think.
it's hard, though!

My favorite e-mail from a column reader today
"I read your article about Memorial day. I am absolutely outraged that you wrote that you loved the French! AND FOLLOWING THE f-word and in the same sentence, YOU put my country AMERICA. YOU CLEARLY MUST BE A FOREIGNER. No red blooded AMERICAN would ever put france in the same sentence. And particularly ahead of AMERICA! You owe me and my countrymen a huge apology."
