I really have zero desire to see THE SOCIAL NETWORK (just got an award for film editing). Should I see it, though, as a form of mental/artistic exercise? Because you know how it is. You never want to exercise, but you feel glad that you did.
Randi and I saw it last night. We initially didn't want to see it, but then heard so many good things about it (plus we've got Netflix and a baby who keeps us in every night). We basically hated the main character right from the beginning and couldn't really figure out what the buzz was about.
Basic takeaway -- Mark Zuckerberg and that dude who started Napster are rich douchebags.
I heard (from real live people!) that it's pretty entertaining. But apparently I wasn't motivated enough by what I heard to actually go see it, so I = not the person to ask.
I LOVE THAT MOVIE. To me, interesting throughout, far more so than The King's Speech, which I liked and enjoyed. I think it's a masterpiece, and that's the honest truth. So take that for what it's worth.
I think it is worth seeing to understand this generation of young guys (and they are ALL guys) who are innovating in sometimes-lucky ways and completing changing our social connections, despite their own social awkwardness.
I just saw it on Friday. I am always wary of movies that waste my time. It was not a waste of time.

ReplyDeleteAnn, you don't need to see it, just hit the 'like' button.
