Ken Cannon's high school hair

When I handed in this column, Editress Lisa said that now I won't have to give Ken Cannon a valentine.

  1. I love it. So sweet. (actual tears in my eyes. although I *am* a cryer, it's true.)

  2. If your mission with this column was to inspire laughter and dewy eyes all within a matter of minutes, then mission accomplished.

  3. I LOVE this post. But what I really want is a high school picture of said Ken Cannon. We need to see that hair!

    Also, what a good grandpa!

  4. I'm wondering why Miss Ann Edwards doesn't have to give her husband a Valentine. I mean, nice column and all that, but come on.

In fact, there are three factual lapses in the column that should be clarified. First, the beat-up sweatshirt Ken Cannon was wearing was not sleeveless, as the column seems to imply. It just had cut-off sleeves. To create a better image, at least for those from Provo High of a certain vintage, it was a maroon Theta Chi sweatshirt with cut-off sleeves. Second, Ken Cannon's hair was not "gleaming, streaming, flaxen, or waxen." It was very long, but also very curly. Someone had reportedly had a permanent not long before. Finally, Miss Ann was not smitten upon that first encounter with Ken Cannon. That came later, for both of them.
